William Bart on Life, Omega, and Theming
Basically, it will be ready when it’s ready… Any disappointment on anybody’s part is completely out of my hands, so I make no apologies. I’m still waiting on the ShapeShifter build I need and many of the modular elements like remotes and players are being coded by third parties. I’d love to get it done as soon as I possibly can, and I am working on it almost every day – that’s about the best I can do. As it stands now, it will have its own release date independent of (but by necessity after) the ShapeShifter update capable of running it. I’m no longer giving guesstimates on a release date and I intend to take the time necessary to flesh it out properly. Keep in mind this is more than just a theme – the theme is merely the hub component of a much larger picture… tons of icons, desktops, media player modules, the list goes on… And remember I’m just one guy, even though I have help with coding, etc. – I think people underestimate the amount of work involved in something like this.
MacThemes: So what do you have planned after Omega?
BBX: I can’t really say, but I’ll probably need a vacation after Omega comes out. I’ve already initiated a few concepts and actually have another theme quite far along. I’d like to do a BBX ALPHA, which would be the white stormtrooper-armor equivalent to Omega… BBX AURORA is a putty-gray alloy design with inset colored plastics… BBX MIRAI is my next-generation metal theme – basically photorealistic injected mica-aluminum panels with black rubber seams, kind of AudiTT style – this one’s already quite far along so it will probably be next. At this point I have no idea though.
MacThemes: Thank you for your time. And one more thing – is there anything you’d like to show our readers?
BBX: While I’d love to show a full-on screenshot of BBX Omega in action, I’ve already stated the reasons why I’m reluctant to do so. So instead, here’s a work-in-progress shot of the Konfabulator-driven official BBX OMEGA™ iTRM (iTunes Remote Module), which is being developed in partnership with the very talented Brian Pink. The lighting, surface and LED characteristics you see here are entirely consistent with those that run throughout the entire kit. There will also be a top-down version that interlocks airlock-style with one of the supplied background images. Assuming there’s time, this background image will also interlock with a Konfabulator-driven animated BBX Omega emblem/clock/remote. Enjoy
