Weekly Wrap-up for the week of 7/3

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap-up! A new segment we’re introducing as part of MacThemes 2.0, the Weekly Wrap-up will show off the staff’s favorite new themes, icons, walls, and screenshots each and every week. For people who don’t have enough time to weed through the forums every day, or for those who might have missed that great new icon release you keep seeing in screenshots, this is for you. As a general guideline, we’ll be showcasing one new theme (new or modification), one icon or iconset, two walls, and one screenshot in each wrap-up, though that could change if a week presents us with too many outstanding creations to single out just one or two. This week, we’ll be featuring two new themes, two sets of walls and two new iconsets, as well as one screenshot, as there was a bit of a mix-up and we missed a few weeks.

Theme
Aqua Inspiriat by StefanKa
Resident Themer StefanKa’s excellent new theme is worth a second mention for those who missed the previous post. Aqua Inspiriat was released out of the blue to users almost a week ago, and incorporates dark blues and smooth metals for a truly different take on the Aqua feel, belonging amongst themes like Canum and Vitae. Download this exhaustive theme now; you surely will not be disappointed.

Theme
Liger by Spiderlama
Liger, by MacThemes newbie Spiderlama, is a theme designed to mimic the look and feel of Leopard, and though the idea is not new, it’s the most impressive recreation seen yet. The alpha release features icons, the new Dock, and flawless transparency for the controversial new menubar- as well as Safari and Mail appskins, making Liger a theme certainly worth watching as it continues to develop.

Walls for iPhone for Psychopulse
Resident Artist Psychopulse impresses once again with a set of 23 beautiful walls, optimized for the iPhone’s 320×480 screen. Ranging from abstract to Mac-like (the good ol’ Finder

spreads his smile across one of the compositions), this pack should keep every MacThemes iPhone-toting user happy with fresh choices.

Pinkuival Collab by Pinky von Pout and Liquival
Those who lack an iPhone have no need to feel left out, because Pinky von Pout and Liquival have treated Mac users with their own beautiful set of wallpapers. This collaboration includes 10 wallpapers (and one secret wallpaper!)- 6 purple/maroon, and 4 others in green and tan-orange. At a whopping 40MB, it’s quite worth the download, so check them out.

Icons

iChat Emoticon Replacement Set by Susumu

susumu_emoticons.png
Well-known Resident Artist Susumu has expanded icon modification in new ways with his set of iChat emoticons. While not an “iconset” per se, these lovely new emoticons will replace the dated Jaguar-era ones, incorporating a warmer color and refreshing some of the faces. Better yet, Susumu’s latest batch of pixely goodness also works perfectly in Adium if that’s your chat solution.

Designer Icons by Cocoia
Cocoia, a regular member on the forums and also known for his previous iconset, War on Bad Design, has released the first of a three-part iconset, Designer Icons. This first part by the increasingly-popular icon designer includes icons for Camino, BitTorrent, Excel, Word and two icons for Mail, and a large number of requests have already been made for more. Download the first part to take a look for yourself, and watch the thread for when the other two parts become available.

July 10 by Hirogen
The screenshot of Resident Artist Hirogen was too good to pass up this week, bestowing his desktop with an unreleased theme entitled Gaia. This work-in-progress community suite will be available for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows (not that we need more than the former), and will include a guiKit, app skins, wallpapers, icons “and much more”. It aims to be released this month, but you can see a preview of it now here.
