The instant camera. Designed by Edwin Land in 1947, self-developing film was a way to have a totally simple system for taking pictures; I have a few faint memories of taking Polaroid pictures as a kid and the joy of watching them become photos (which is pretty cool, if you’ve never actually tried it). And it’s Kevin Andersson who wins for Best Polaroid Icon, who revisited his original Photoshop document and rereleased it as, well, “Polaroid Revisited”. The changes he’s made are small, but quite pleasant to look at, giving the paper a nice texture and improving some of the other detail work.
