Hello, Aluminix
Many black drive icons have one common trait: they’re painted with a glossy finish. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing— “slick” icons have their place in this Aqua customization world too— but I’ve always thought it would be nice to see some high-quality, brushed aluminum black for a change.
Convenient, then, that Marcelo Marfil has updated his set Aluminix Drives set, giving them that noisy texture I’ve always wanted. The nine icons incorporate silver and black (coincidentally, my two favorite hardware colors) and blend them together just splendidly, with a purple light that makes the front look wicked cool at larger resolutions. The glyphs are also unusually sharp, adding just a touch of gloss to keep it from getting too bland. It’s one of those sets that makes me wish I had folders of the same style, but alas. Marfil’s icons are available in the forums.
