Announcing Architect
I’ve written in the past that a thriving theming community for Leopard requires two things: a tool for theme developers, and an applier for theme users. And it looks like Slightly Pretentious Software is doing just that. Last night, the company announced Architect, a theme building application; and Façade, their theme switcher— both for Mac OS X Leopard. Aiming to be a successor to the ThemePark-ShapeShifter duo used for Tiger and earlier, the former will be available as a public beta next week. In the meantime, however, sink your teeth into their preview video on the website; it might make you a bit more pumped for Mac customization.

Cool. Now I can get back to figuring out what Nextstepified Leopard looks like, assuming I can find time to create the theme.

Anyone know what types of import/conversion it’ll support? (resource files? guikits?)
Devs???
August 26th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Wonder how much this will cost…
August 27th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
@Ren Qian: Architect is going to be free.
The applier program, Façade, will be reasonably priced.
@Mnimum91: I’m not sure what Laurent used, but I do know the click animations were created with Mouseposé, and I believe the key presses were displayed with KeyCastr.

I’ll buy Facade as soon as it hits store shelves. Really looking forward to this app!!!

@luKather it’s funny how everybody always are sure it’s Screenflow. No, it’s Screenflick ( http://www.araelium.com/screenflick/ ). It does click animations, shortcut display, and it cost less than 30% of Screenflow’s price (and no, I’m not part of the dev)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s now “next Sunday,” and I don’t see anything on their site except the video. Not nice for developers to do this kind of thing. I’ve been using a theme changer called “Kameleon,” and it’s worked just fine for me. I had hoped to see useful competition, but I don’t like this kind of bait-and-wait nonsense.

I dont mind waiting a little longer, specially if it means that the program is a little more ready for relesae or less buggy… but an update or a little inforrmation on progress would be nice seeing as its Monday
Looks fantastic! …

Okay, they did finally post a message about a short delay. Nonetheless, I wish developers would wait until their products are ready before starting all the hype.

@Tim
It was unexpected. Chill.
September 6th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
