Description: Thick metallic interface combined with a dark and illuminous style; Acerocide.

Graphical Intent: I intended Acerocide to be easy on the eyes while still being visually interesting. I wanted to use a matte metallic style to give the UI a clean feel, but I also wanted to give the theme a splash of contrast. I used the menubar to tie the aqua and metal styles together.

General Comments: Based on my original Oxide guikit and my Acero mockup. Inspired by Unity GK and various Nickel Cobalt elements.

Nice design. I’d love that for a theme. Nice and easy on the eyes.

Very slick, makes every window look like a small work of pixel art. And that highlight in the menu bar is a great touch.

Wow, nice! Just dark enough that it doesn’t look like it’ll cut down on usability, yet not boring or unoriginal in any stretch of the imagination. Oh, I also like the iChat bubbles… nice touch.

Styles are to inconsistent. You way off in both directions didn’t you. I like the aqua window though.

I love the understated look of the widgets. It looks like a natural evolution of ARGONneon, and definitely something I could picture myself using late at night while working in InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop.

Nice, but it reminds me of Argon a lot, which was hyped about but did not end up using very much. It’s a good entry, but others, such as White Plastic and those from Toner, are more of my type.

A unique mockup for sure, but usability and doability clearly played a minor role, with the contrasting window styles and buttons.

the nicest of the dark themes presented. i’m sure had this been on page one at the start of the contest it would have garnered many more votes and quite possibly be the clear leader it deserves to be.
